Back to Hockey- A message from our club captain Mel.

Updated: Aug 29, 2020

Welcome back Remnants HC members

I hope you are all keeping well and safe and looking forward to getting back on the pitch.

The good news is that England Hockey has been given the go ahead to move to Stage 4 of Return to Play. This means we can train competitively but remain socially distanced between exercises.

Before returning to hockey, anyone wishing to train/play must complete the England Hockey Participation Agreement HERE

Please complete this as soon as possible and email Aurelie confirming completion and that you have read the ‘Advice for Participants’ document (attached). Players cannot train/play hockey until this has been completed.

Aurelie has kindly offered to be our Club Covid Officer and she will be the point of contact with England Hockey for anything Covid related. If you are or anyone in your household experiences symptoms you must contact Aurelie.

Training

This season our training sessions will be run by Aurelie at Colfe’s on Monday 7.00-8.00 pm and we have our first training session on 7th September. Please arrive changed and ready to train and remember to bring hand sanitiser and a face covering.

Drivers can park in Colfe’s School car park nearest the pitch as the leisure centre car park is closed. The changing rooms are also closed. We have use of the toilet in the leisure centre reception area – please wear a face covering when entering the reception area.

Prior to leaving home/arrival at the pitch players will need to Self Assess for any COVID-19 symptoms and text Aurelie to confirm either way for every training session. On arrival at the pitch, players must check in with Aurelie for registration before joining other players on the pitch. For Track and Trace purposes, we need to record attendees for both training and games.

Please remember to sanitise hands before entering and after leaving the pitch.

Games

On 1st September we expect a decision from England Hockey about moving to move Step 5 when we can play our league games. Our first game is scheduled for 19th September. Players will need to arrive ready to play promptly at 12.30 and register with our Captain Aimee. We will all need to help out with sanitising and moving goals so that we can warm up at 12.45 ready for a 1.00 push back.

Again, everyone will need to self assess before arrival and check in with Aimee to confirm self assessment and complete registration for submission to England Hockey Track and Trace. Whilst social distancing rules are in place, sadly, we will not be providing teas. As an alternative, anyone wishing to do so can bring their own après game refreshment of choice and hang out in the area outside the pitch gates, though this must be in groups of 6.

Every player has responsibilities, before, during and after any hockey session. Please check out the England Hockey website for further documentation and helpful videos about how we can get back to playing hockey safely http://www.englandhockey.co.uk/covid19

See you all soon at training (and remember to register HERE )

Take care

Mel
