Our committee is elected every year at the club's AGM. The committee is an important part of our club, organising fixtures, training, hosting social events, finding umpires and much more. Here is Remnants HC committee for 2018/2019:
Mel (Club captain)
Mel has been our club captain since the start of the 2020-21 season. Mel joined Remnants HC in 2014 after moving to SE London. She loves playing hockey with Remnants as it is a very friendly club. She works in IT as a technical analyst and when not chasing a ball around midfield likes to run and has completed a few half marathons. Her favourite escape is a long walk in the countryside followed by a nice cold cider.
Sabela is our new Team Captain for 2022-23. She works for a global networking hub and job board for LGBTQ+ professionals, graduates, allies, and organisations to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace and beyond.
She doesn't only love her work, she cycles everywhere she can, loves travelling, reading, going to the cinema and a good cold beer. Originally from Spain, Sabe is a proud Galician that learnt to play hockey in secondary school. She joined our club in 2017 and is looking forward to the new season. Go Rems!
Cat is our social secretary. She has already organised a night of bowling and a BBQ this Spring. We can't wait to see what else she is planning for our social calendar for 22-23.
Cat is also our main umpire, making it possible for games to go ahead every week. She was recently voted Most Improved Player.
Jess has been playing hockey since 2016. For her, Remnants is great for learning or improving hockey and she is proud to be able to
contribute as a committee member this season. Jess plays as a forward and hopes to score more goals in the new season after getting some inspiration at the Hockey world cup in London.
Tati is Fixtures Secretary and Umpire Whisperer. She started playing hockey at secondary school, but for reasons that now
escape her, gave up for 22 years, waiting until after her 41st birthday to start playing again (thus demonstrating that it’s never too late to pick up a stick again!) She joined Remnants HC when she moved to London in 2012, and has only broken two bones in that time. Off the pitch she is often to be found with her wife and dog, on a walk that includes a pub.
Aurélie joined Remnants HC in 2005 when she started working in Kent as a teacher after moving to the UK from Brittany (in France).
She now works with students with special needs in Medway. Apart from hockey, she enjoys cooking, baking and likes to bring some of her cakes and muffins to hockey games. Despite several injuries in recent years, she still enjoys playing in defence for Remnants HC.
She is our treasurer for the 22-23 season.
Outside of hockey she enjoys readings, quizzing (naming all 196 countries especially) and a cocktail or two.
Molly is joining the committee for the 2022-23 season after winning an award for Most Improved Player.
Molly has been playing for Rems HC since September 2021, brand new to the game, proving that anyone can come and pick up a stick!
